The new exhibition at GUM-Red-Line is a collective project that unites the leading galleries of Moscow and St. Petersburg.
Three years ago, in GUM was opened a contemporary art gallery - a space endowed with a mission to show contemporary art to a large number of visitors and buyers of GUM and to acquaint them with artists living and working in our time. The world has changed a lot during these three years and it is looking now intently into the future, trying to predict it. In our difficult times, GUM-Red-Line seeks to unite and support like minds, using its space in the cultural and commercial center of Moscow as a synergistic and unifying force of Russian gallerists and artists.
Project curators Igor Kazakov (head of the GUM-Red-Line gallery) and Marina Fedorovskaya invited the leading Moscow and St. Petersburg galleries to choose authors whose art will represent them. The exhibition will bring together galleries of completely different formats, corresponding to a high level of expertise. Created for the most part as business projects necessary for the art market, it is contemporary art galleries that support artists nowadays and form the aspects that will have a significant impact on the history of art in the 21st century.
The concept of the project is "one gallery - one artist". However, during the exhibition, participating galleries have the opportunity to change their exposition, sequentially showing different artists’ works.
During the Exhibition of Achievements of Contemporary Artists (VDSH), the GUM-Red-Line Gallery will become a presentation space for leading Russian galleries and artists of our time. There will be meetings with project participants, open discussions, public talks and other events.
