Vika Begalska
(b.1975, Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine) and Alexander Vilkin (b.1982, Snezhinsk, Chelyabinsk region) are working as an artistic duo since 2014. Both authors were already well-known and recognizable artists, each having his personal background and artistic method when they started working together.
Vika Begalska studied at the Kharkov Academy of Design and Arts. She lives in Moscow since 2001. The feminist projects made her famous. In 2013 she became a co-founder of the artistic platform “The Feminist Kitchen”. Along with the painting as the main media she works with video and performance.
Alexander Vilkin
graduated from Chelyabinsk Art College, also he studied at Northwestern Institute of Printing Arts (St. Petersburg) and at “BAZA” Institute of Contemporary Art (Moscow). In 2006 he co-founded the art group “Prosthesis” together with Igor Mezheritsky and Grigory Yushchenko in St. Petersburg. Since 2006 he is also a member of the artistic group Parazit. Since 2014 he lives and works in Moscow.
Marina Gisich Gallery
Marina Gisich Gallery - one of the pioneering contemporary art galleries which appeared in St.Petersburg and founded by Marina Gisich in 2000. At the moment it plays one of the key roles in the Russian contemporary art market. Throughout the past two decades, Marina Gisich Gallery has developed the contemporary program that now represents around thirty distinguished artists, mostly of the Russian origin. These are the significant artists of the past 30 years, such as Evgeny Yufit, Vladimir Kustov, Marina Alexeeva, Boris Kazakov, Kerim Ragimov, Vitaly Pushnitsky, Gregori Maiofis, Kirill Chelushkin, Vladimir Kozin, Peter Belyi, Alexander Shishkin-Hokusai and others. The younger generation is presented by Semyon Motolyanets, Ivan Gorshkov, Asya Marakulina, Tanya Akhmetgalieva, crocodilePOWER etc.
Since 2010 the gallery participated at the international art fairs, such as ARCO Madrid, Vienna Contemporary, Art Paris, Contemporary Istanbul, Volta NY, Art Miami. Since october 2019 the gallery joined the management of the Russian AGA (Assosiation of galleries).
