Ivan Simonov

Ivan Simonov

Young Russian artist, street artist. From 2000 to 2005 he studied at the cadet boarding school "Third Moscow Cadet Corps. Alexander Nevsky. Since 2005 he has been painting on the streets; in 2011 works in the field of documentary photography. In 2016 he graduated from the department of directing theatrical performances and holidays of the Moscow State Institute of Culture. In the same year, he created his most famous project #littlepeople, in which he integrated black and white photographs of the heroes of his documentary photographs with the urban space.

Member of various educational programs and residences. Simonov's personal exhibitions and group projects with his participation were held at the Street Art Museum, the Winzavod Center for Contemporary Art, the GROUND Solyanka Gallery. In 2021, he was nominated for the Sergey Kuryokhin «Art in urban space» (St. Petersburg).

Simonov's works are included in the collections of the Copelouzos Family Art Museum (Greece), the PERMM Museum of Contemporary Art (Perm), the Ruarts Foundation (Moscow), the Street Art Museum (St. Petersburg), the Rediance Center for Contemporary Art (Apatity) and in private Russian and European collections.

was founded by the art historian and curator Sergey Popov in 2004 and now has held a leading position in the art world in the sphere of Russian and international Contemporary Art. Along with its commercial activities, the main priority for the gallery is its active exhibition policy. pop/off/art gallery regularly organises exhibitions of its artists in major Russian museums: the State Tretyakov Gallery, the Russian Museum, the Moscow Museum of Modern Art and others. Located on the territory of the Center for Contemporary Art «Winzavod», Moscow.

The gallery represents artists of several generations – from acknowledged contemporary art masters (Eric Bulatov, Arkady Petrov, Rostislav Lebedev), to the leaders of today art scene (Irina Nakhova, Olga Chernysheva, Anatoly Osmolovsky, Vitaly Pushnitsky) and to the rising stars (Andris Eglitis, Ivan Plusch, Ivan Novikov). Number of the artists work with various media. Works by all the gallery’s artists are held in various museum collections all over the world. Most of the artists have been awarded national and international prizes, many have participated in key recurrent exhibitions (Documenta, Venice Biennale etc.) and now are among the leaders of auction sales and the "Top 100 Recognized Artists". The pop/off/art gallery participated in exhibitions that were held in the leading museums of Russia: the State Hermitage Museum, the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, the Moscow Museum of Modern Art etc. In addition to direct sales and collecting contemporary art, the gallery advises on the international art market and investment in contemporary art.
