The exhibition "Engineers of Art" School: Far-Off Balance presents a 30-year retrospective of "Engineers of Art" School — one of the most outstanding movements in Saint Petersburg underground art, as of yet practically unknown to Moscow art lovers.
Established in 1989, "Engineers of Art" School unites Inal Savchenkov, Franz Rodwalt, Sergey Yenkov, Grigory Strelnikov, and Vladislav Balakleysky.
“Engineers of Art” are closely linked to the history of Saint Petersburg underground art: their paintings were presented at the joint projects of the “New Artists,” were showcased at the first techno raves in Russia. The artists themselves participated in performance art pieces by the band Pop- Mechanica led by Sergey Kuryokhin. Members of the art group continue to work together and offer membership to both other artists and representatives of other projects. The “Engineers” organize exhibitions in Russia and abroad. *Inal Savchenkov, one of the founders of the art group*, is currently developing new painting methods. His younger brother Sergey Yenkov collaborates with large-scale Russian theatre and museum projects, including the projects by the Bolshoi Theatre and the Manege Central Exhibition Hall. Franz Rodwalt, based in Berlin, works as a sculptor and designer with some of the most renowned Hollywood directors, including the Wachowskis, Quentin Tarantino, Wes Anderson, Terry Gilliam.
Nikolai Margiev and Ekaterina Iushkevich are the curators of the exhibition.
