Sergey Bratkov

Born in 1960 in Kharkov. Graduated from the Repin Art College and the Kharkov Polytechnical Academy. From 1994 until 1997 was a part of the Fast Reaction Group together with photographers Boris Mikhailov, Viktoria Mikhailova, and Sergey Solonsky. His first solo exhibition in 2000 made Bratkov the talk of the day in the art community. Today the Kids series is a part of the collection of François Pinault who is one of the major collectors of the world. Sergey Bratkov’s name is synonymous to any consistent social statements in any kind of media: photography, video, installation, or collage. His solo exhibitions were displayed at the following museums: Forum Stadtpark (Graz, Austria), Canal de Isabel II (Madrid, Spain), Winterthur Photomuseum (Winterthur, Switzerland), Aktuelle Kunst Haus der Photographie (Hamburg, Germany), Leo Koenig Inc. (New York, USA). Sergey Bratkov’s artworks are displayed at the Multimedia Art Museum (Moscow, Russia), MUHKA (Antwerp, Belgium), CGAC (Santiago de Compostela, Spain), Winterthur Photomuseum (Switzerland) and others, as well as in private collections in Russia and worldwide. Bratkov took part in the São Paulo Biennale (2002), Manifesta (2004), Venice Biennales (2003, 2007, 2011). Winner of the Innovation State Award (2009). Lecturer at the Moscow Rodchenko School of Photography and Multimedia.
