On January 14-17, 2021, GUM Cinema is hosting the New Russian Video Art Festival, organized as part of the Circumstances of Insurmountable Time exhibition by Evgeny Granilshchikov at GUM-Red-Line Gallery.
Each evening, at 20:00, GUM Cinema will present several video art pieces by Russian artists selected by Evgeny Granilshchikov as festival curator.
The films, created by Russian artists from 2011 to 2020, showcase reality in a documentary format, use the language of video art as a special optical instrument to be used in a bid to transform the reality that surrounds us.
The New Russian Video Art Festival will demonstrate a wide range of artistic techniques, the great variety in the way artists tackle moving images, the impressive selection of themes and methods. Many pieces will be presented for the very first time as part of the program. A number of works have been recognized by prizes of international festivals.
The festival organized by Evgeny Granilshchikov with the participation of GUM-Red-Line Gallery is an attempt to focus on the last decade of new Russian video art.

The idea of holding the festival was suggested by the Circumstances of Insurmountable Time exhibition curators Marina Fedorovskaya and Karina Karaeva.
The video art showings will be held at GUM Cinema on January 14, 15, 16, and 17, at 20:00.
