Mikhail Balan: Dhyāna. Deep Contemplation

As part of the exhibition Dhyana. Deep concentration. Vladimir Bolshakov, tea master of the company Moychay.ru, held a tea ceremony at the GUM-Red-Line Gallery on November 26.

While drinking tea, people usually talk about art, philosophize and contemplate the beauty around. This simplicity of the present moment gives birth to sincere joy in a person’s heart. Gallery guests were able to activate their sensory capabilities and immerse themselves in a state of focused mental concentration during the tea ceremony, be in a state of calm alertness, and clear the mind and heart of the fears and worries of life.

Cha Chan Yi Wei - Tea and Chan have the same taste. This phrase expresses the connection of tea with the meditative practices of Chan Buddhism, known in Japan as Zen Buddhism. In China, the tea ceremony is understood as a way to create harmony within a person and in his relationship with nature, discipline the mind and achieve mental clarity. This is the basis of the philosophy of Cha Dao - The Way of Tea.
