Born in 1985 in Saint Petersburg. Graduated from the Saint Petersburg State University of Technology and Design, Graphic Design Department (2009), Contemporary Art Institute, Moscow (2015). Works in installations, video, performances, sculpture. Studies the limits of the body as an independent object uniting the material (flesh) and unique (consciousness). The art of Maria Agureeva is focused on the discovery of the tensions between the normal and the subjective, on the study of attractiveness criteria and the need for creating ideal images. By contrasting the artlessness of nature and the forced necessity of artificial beauty, Maria highlights synthetic materials which underline the possibilities of transforming and redesigning the body as a contemporary cult form. Her solo exhibitions were held in Russia (2009, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2018), Finland (2011), Germany (2018), USA (2018, 2019).
