Born in Voronezh in 1984. Lives and works in Moscow and Venice. Graduated from the Voronezh State University (2006), Contemporary Art Institute, Moscow (2008), master of international programs at the Valand School of Fine Arts, Goteborg, Sweden (2010). In his projects focuses on the heritage of Soviet museology, as well as the interpretation of museum spaces in Russian cosmism. Artworks by Arseny Zhilyaev were displayed at biennales in Gwangju, Liverpool, Lyon, the Ljubljana Triennale, as well as exhibitions at the Centre Pompidou in Paris; De Appel, Amsterdam; HKW, Berlin. Editor of the Avant-Garde Museology anthology (e-flux, V-a-c Press, University of Minnesota Press, 2015). Winner of various Russian awards in the field of contemporary art. Presented lectures and masterclasses at the MoMA, City University of New York, Brooklyn Museum (New York), Tate Modern, Whitechapel (London), Princeton University (New Jersey), MGU, Russian State University for the Humanities (Moscow). His solo exhibitions include The Return, Winzavod, Moscow (2017), Moscow Diaries (part of CEM), MMOMA, V-A-C Foundation, Moscow (2017), The Italian Hit, Imaginary Future, San Francisco, USA (2016).
