Born in the Year of the Dragon, lives and works in Moscow. Alina’s artistic practice is rooted in her art history background. While studying at the Arts Faculty at the Lomonosov Moscow State University, she cultivated an insight into the world of the dragons and other universes which she calls “stories”, “tiny details” derived from artworks by old masters. The Dragon, as Alina correctly notes, is the only creature from the Chinese Zodiac that does not exist in reality, so she has the liberty to depict it in her installation or leave it outside her artwork. In any case, every component of her piece is not an abstract, seemingly mysterious and even absurd statement, but a modern interpretation and a quote from the history of art.
