Anastasia Mityushina

Curator, informal education practitioner, Garage Museum of Contemporary Art public program curator.

Born in 1982 in Moscow. Graduated from the Art History and Theory Department of the Lomonosov Moscow State University. In 2005–2007, managed numerous museum exhibitions in Russia, including the “Pavel Filonov. Eyewitness of the Unseen” (State Russian Museum, Saint Petersburg; Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts, Moscow, 2006).

In 2007–2008, worked as a private contemporary art collection consultant. In 2009, established ArtManagement Agency, organized the PR-campaign for the 1st Ural Industrial Biennial of Contemporary Art (2010). Since 2010, works at the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art, initially worked as education department head (2010–2014), currently works as public program curator.

Selected curator projects: “Do It, Moscow” (together with Snejana Krasteva, 2014); “Art Experiment. Visit to an Artist’s Studio” (2015); “Kindred Spirits” (together with Maria Sarycheva; the exhibition was also showcased at Yeltsin Center, Yekaterinburg, and the Arsenal, Nizhny Novgorod, 2016–2020); “If a Tin Can Could Talk… Mikhail Lifshitz and the Soviet 1960s” (together with Dmitry Gutov and David Riff, 2018); “Limitless Hearing” (together with Yaroslav Volovod and the Council group, 2018), “Monika Sosnowska. Construction Exercises. Bending” (2020), “A Beautiful Night for All The People” (together with Valentin Diakonov; 2nd Triennial of Russian Contemporary Art, Garage Museum of Contemporary Art, 2020). Published articles in the “Art Magazine”, “ArtChronika”, and “Artguide”.

Guest lecturer at the Higher School of Economics (Moscow) and the RMA Business School (Moscow), worked as a teacher at the Shalash Charity Foundation (Moscow, 2019–2021). Lives and works in Moscow.
